Hello there dear wanderer!
Shayton horses (Daemonium Equues) are a six-legged fantasy horse species, first tamed not so long ago and later on trained for various equestrian activities.
Despite their big, cheerful faces, they are omnivores, so they have a mixture of sharp teeth.
Their origin is quite hazy, but they are most likely offsprings of once living huge demonic creatures.

The ranch
Stable
A big stable with up to 22 stalls. Smaller and bigger, some for stallions, some for foaling and of course some to serve as a nighttime accomodation for our shaytons.
Some stalls has a fix owner but there are plenty that are rentable.
We have our tackroom here and a small office what anyone can visit to check on our weekly schedules and to see are shaytons who are currently up for adoption.

Indoor and outdoor arena
Our indoor arena has one side that we can open up by the summertime, making it more comfortable for both shaytons and riders to work in shade in the warm weather.
The outdoor arena has a grandstand on one side so most of the big events are hosted here.
Both arenas can be used for dressage, showjumping and western courses.

Warmup arena and round pen
This two smaller areas are typically used for training, groundwork or under saddle. Warmup arena is open at every events so riders can have a few warm-up rounds before entering the big arena.
Crosscountry course
Our crosscountry course isn't the biggest and the obstacles are really simple, but it is perfect for a beginner level! The property has a pond so you can test your shayton with obstacles in water or you can even go for a summertime swim with them!
Pastures
The major part of the property is used for pastures. As we not only train but rescue shaytons we need plenty of paddock to accommodate new residents and also to quarantine if needed.
Stallion pastures are on the side of the property. These are surrounded by bushes and the grandstands cover the view for the arena so our stallions can enjoy a good time outdoors without being triggered by others on the pastures or in the arena.
Next to these we have our paddocks for foals and mares. Younger foals are with their mothers on the pasture next to the road. Even though this road isn't the busiest, they see a car or truck time-to-time. Older shaytons aren't really scaredy of vehicles and this helps getting foals to used to them early too.
After weaning, the foals are kept together on another pasture, together with others close to them in age.
The main paddock on the property is used for our mares and geldings older than 2-3 years. It has a little creek and a bunch of trees.
The smallest paddock on the property are "guest" or "quarantine" paddocks. These are located next to our farmhouse so we can easily check on them even in the middle of the night.

Farmhouse
The main building of the ranch. The owners (us) live here and we have the main office in here. There is a parking lot and a garage and we have a lil private garden in the back for our family.
Main lore and origin of the species
The modern horse as we know it been evolving for millions of years. The domestication of Equus Caballus has no exact date in history, but there are evidences of horseriding and chariots from thousands of years ago.
Shaytons appeared after horses' domestication.
The species is originated from some sort of otherworldly demonic being - yes, we know it sounds weird, but that's it! These shapeless demons came from another dimension to our world and had to adapt to this environment somehow.
We can't point out an exact date when they evolved, but one thing is sure - Shaytons BC probably looked much much different. But as their behavior wasn't as aggressive as other demons from their world and they were more prey animals in ours, they chose an extraordinary strategy to survive.
They started blending in horse herds, wild or domesticated and they started mimicking their appearance. They started taking up the horses' behavior but they always kept a distance from humans.
As time passed and human organizations kept control over supernatural beings, their number decreased. Just in the late 20th century people started to think about using them for the same aspects as regular horses. Wild shaytons are really hard to spot and they are usually not too friendly with humans, but after capturing and gaining their trust they can become great company. They do require a strict training and knowledge in regular horseman ship such as knowledge about supernatural/demonic beings.
Our stable was founded in the early 2000's and by 2020 it was able to accommodate up to 60 shaytons, 20-25 in stable and others on pastures.
Our duty is to rescue, help and train these animals, to educate people about them and to host events for all the fans of the species!

And now a few words "for real"
Shaytons started as a passion project for a roleplay game back in 2014 but they started to gain some popularity over the years.
The character design changed a lot as we were learning about art and anatomy over the years. Their main feature became their extra pair of legs, for which they are often associated with sleipnir and we get the most critics on this feature too. But hey, this is a fantasy species!
